Kuhn gets Cluster Mag peoples psyched on a couple of counts. He lives and plays somewhere on a continuum between Boston and NYC, just like many of us. He’s also a go-getter, laying it down on a number of creative endeavors—strange vhs manipulation, pulling his weight in the “Brooklyn-based label/blog/party collective,” Astro Nautico, and making fresh speaker magic that easily holds its own in the sprawling and stylistically interconnected nebulous that is this decade’s “dance” music scene.
This week, Kuhn throws us an exclusive track (for FREE 320kbps DOWNLOAD!) off his upcoming EP on Civil Music, Slime Beach, set to launch in November. Island is the most mellow joint from the release, the melody rising and falling in hypnotic waves of energy and tune. Sounds a bit like a mopey robot railing off a list of complaints in the rainforest. But that’s just me. My mom overheard it and said it was “really lovely.” So, cheers Kuhn, that’s a pretty solid thumbs up.
